I'll stamp all over 'legitimate fighter' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua
The British boxer prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-bout fight which will be shown live on Netflix.
British boxer Anthony Joshua declared he will "stamp all over" the American and "break" his opponent as the pair met personally to publicize the upcoming bout.
Former twice unified title holder Anthony Joshua faces social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, on paper, a huge uneven pairing - at Miami's Kaseya Center on 19 December.
Boxer's Mentality
"I'm going to injure his face and hurt his body. I'm here to prove my superiority," Joshua, 35 years old, said.
"I'll stamp all over him. That's the boxer's mindset.
"I'm going to genuinely try to hurt him. That's what I want to do."
Respectful Exchange
Despite those words, a relaxed Joshua and social media star Paul - typically famous for his showmanship - shared friendly words and maintained decorum with each other.
Jake Paul rather targeted former Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and labeled him "not serious" after Ngannou turned down a bout proposal.
Targeting Tyson Fury
Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, took aim at British opponent Fury - and declined a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul win.
"Jake Paul is better than Tyson Fury - he's present here," the boxer commented.
"I respect him for that."
Legitimate Opponent
Despite saying he intends to damage his opponent, Joshua declined to talk badly about his opponent's pugilistic talent.
"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he said.
Paul's Background
Paul - who first rose to fame on the television network - has mostly boxed mixed martial artists or declining opponents since becoming pro.
He lost to Briton Fury in last year.
Commercial Attraction
However, the inexperienced fighter remains one of boxing's largest money-making draws, regularly earning substantial financial rewards.
Prediction and Confidence
The 28 year old predicted a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and asserted he would prevent the long-awaited Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly under discussion for 2026.
"It will be myself against Tyson Fury next year," Paul said.
Size Disparity
As the two fighters met for the customary stare-down, with their size difference on show, it drove home just how surprising this complete situation is - and how amazing it is that the fight is truly happening.
